Ryan Fazio Sides With Trump as Diesel and Heating Oil Prices Hit Record Highs

As Connecticut families prepare for winter, new reports from NBC Connecticut and CT Mirror show the real cost of Donald Trump’s chaos: heating oil prices are surging, diesel prices have hit a record high, and families are once again being forced to pay more for necessities. 

As his party continues to stick Connecticut families with the bill for Trump’s war, Ryan Fazio is nowhere to be found.

• NBC Connecticut reported this week that Connecticut households are facing significantly higher heating costs heading into winter. Home heating oil is now averaging $5.91 per gallon — up 50% since late June.

• Capitol Dispatch said “Trump and Republicans Ensure a Cold Winter for 94,000 CT Families.” Connecticut is the fourth-most oil-heat dependent state in America with 510,000 homes using oil heat. The 91,000 families relying on the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) will see a 30% reduction or more in the amount of heating oil they can purchase.

• The Hil reported that The Trump administration proposed to eliminate LIHEAP in its entirety in this year’s budget proposal. 

• CT Mirror reported that diesel prices in Connecticut hit a record high near $6.48 per gallon, a 71% increase from one year ago.

• As WTNH reported, gas prices “continue to surge above seasonal records while petroleum markets face disruptions from the war in Iran.” Connecticut is seeing the highest-ever gas prices for this time of year.
  

Recent analysis indicates that Trump’s war has added $115 billion in energy costs through higher gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel prices, or about $860 for the typical American household. CT Insider estimated that Connecticut drivers have paid $22 million more for gas to commute over a two month period. 

Ryan Fazio claims that energy is a priority, but refuses to break from Donald Trump on his disastrous and costly war on Iran that is driving up prices. Ryan has repeatedly claimed he is too “focused on state issues” to comment on national politics. Curiously, he had no issue weighing in on federal policy as a state senator when Joe Biden was in the White House.
