CT Dems Celebrate Lamont Signing of Bipartisan Affordability-Focused Budget
Connecticut Democrats are celebrating Governor Ned Lamont’s signing of the FY 2027 bipartisan budget adjustment bill – capping off months of hard work by Democratic lawmakers to achieve historic investments in schools, towns, families, and Connecticut’s long-term fiscal future.
This budget delivers new funding for education and childcare, while boosting existing tax relief with targeted aid to Connecticut families and communities:
Additional Education Funding: $193 million in supplemental grants to give our local schools the resources they need to succeed.
Taxpayer Relief: Over $100 million in direct municipal aid to help local communities lower property taxes for families.
Free Early Childcare: $300 million for the Early Childhood Education Endowment to launch the largest pre-K expansion in state history.
Student Nutrition: Universal free school breakfast for every student to ensure no child starts their day hungry.
Protections Against Disastrous Trump Cuts: $50 million for the Federal Cuts Response Fund to shield Connecticut families from the Trump administration's agenda.
Community Investment: Critical new funding for child welfare, public safety, housing, and expanded transit for students and veterans.
Public Health: Increased access to flu vaccines and new measures to drive down healthcare costs for everyone.
Taken together, these investments were delivered while keeping Connecticut on stable fiscal ground and passing the state’s eighth consecutive balanced budget, without any tax increases.
Statement from CT Dems Chair Roberto Alves:
“Governor Lamont and our Democratic lawmakers have delivered a budget that invests in our schools, supports working families, and achieves landmark goals like universal school breakfast, and continues moving Connecticut forward,” said CT Dems Chair Roberto Alves, “At a time when families are feeling the pressure of rising costs, Governor Lamont continues to show you can make smart investments in people and deliver results while governing responsibly and maintaining Connecticut’s fiscal stability.”
