The GOP has officially endorsed its 2026 gubernatorial ticket, and one thing is clear: this is the most extreme GOP ticket in Connecticut history. From supporting Donald Trump, to siding with the NRA on guns, or opposing reproductive freedom – the CT GOP is now a MAGA party. 

Ryan Fazio has proudly voted against every commonsense gun law he could while siding with RFK Jr. on vaccines. What does his LG running mate, Matt Corey believe? 

A refresher on Corey’s positions:

• Corey shares Fazio’s unquestioning loyalty to Donald Trump. Corey has called himself “the fighter Donald Trump needs by his side.” Asked directly during his Senate campaign, he declined to name a single thing he disagreed with the President on, saying “there’s not many ways.” He even supported Trump’s crazy plan to annex Greenland.
  

• Corey, like Fazio, is fully aligned with the gun lobby and the activist groups working to overturn commonsense gun safety laws. Like his running mate, Corey has campaigned with and thanked the CCDL, who have spent years trying to use the courts to overturn Connecticut’s assault weapons ban.
  

• Like Fazio, Corey is openly opposed to reproductive freedom. He approved of the overturning of Roe v. Wade and said that the issue belongs with the states. (Reminder: Fazio said Roe was “offensive to the rule of law and to millions of informed and motivated voters.”)
  

• Both Corey and Fazio have tried to court anti-vaccine primary voters with MAHA criticisms of basic vaccine safety standards. Corey posted a Youtube video that suggested the bill was the product sidelining parents for “the politically connected and their friends.”
  

That makes two candidates on the extreme flank of their own party and wildly out of step with hardworking Connecticut families on the issues that matter most.

“At a time when voters are looking for leaders unafraid to stand up to Donald Trump and champion the needs of Connecticut families, the GOP has nominated a ticket that is wholly subservient to the MAGA movement. Rather than balance out Ryan Fazio’s abysmal record of voting with special interests and conservative think tanks, they nominated a Lieutenant Governor candidate who has openly billed himself as ‘the fighter Donald Trump needs by his side.’ This Fazio-Corey ticket is an indictment of the current state of the Connecticut Republican Party.”
