New Polls Add to Rough Week for Ryan Fazio – and It’s Only Wednesday

It’s only Wednesday, but it’s already looking like things are coming off the rails for GOP nominee Ryan Fazio’s campaign.

According to last week’s Sacred Heart University/WFSB/CT Insider poll, Ryan trails Governor Lamont by 14% among registered voters.

• The poll shows Governor Lamont leading Fazio 48.2% to 33.9% among all registered voters. 

• Fazio attempted to do damage control by questioning the integrity of the poll’s methodology, claiming that his own unreleased internal polls “show a single-digit race.”
  

But a poll released today from Quinnipiac University confirmed an even larger double-digit lead for Governor Lamont.

• Quinnipiac University found Governor Lamont leading Fazio by 17 points among likely voters, 55% to 38% – showing only 5 percent of likely Connecticut voters remain undecided.

• Lamont holds a commanding lead over Fazio among the voters most concerned with the top-polling issues in the race. Lamont leads Fazio among voters most concerned about cost of living by over 30 points (63% to 29%) and those concerned about the economy 58% to 33%.
  

Plus, a review by CT Insider found that Ryan Fazio once again couldn’t survive a fact-check – this time with his claims on energy. 

• CT Insider found Ryan’s attempt to blame Governor Lamont for higher electric bills “problematic” because governors cannot simply set electric rates. 

• The review also found that standard electric bills actually decreased as a result of reductions in public benefits charges,” based on the efforts of Governor Lamont and Democratic lawmakers.

“Reality is catching up with Ryan Fazio. His campaign is in disarray, and Connecticut voters simply aren’t buying what he’s selling. Fazio’s claims that this is a tight race are just as fictional as his promises on tax cuts and energy rates. Even worse for his campaign, recent polling shows that a quarter of Republican voters want a governor who will stand up to Washington, meaning Fazio is losing his own base to Governor Lamont, who has proven he has the backbone to lead.”
