Fazio Sides With Gun Company Fighting CT Gun Safety Law

The gun lobby continues to attack Connecticut’s commonsense gun safety laws, arguing today in court against Connecticut’s law banning the sale of pistols that can be easily converted into illegal fully automatic machine guns.

Ryan Fazio fought against the law in the Senate, voting to allow pistols that could be easily turned into dangerous automatic weapons.

The law, part of Governor Lamont’s 2026 legislative agenda, received the support of law enforcement agencies across the state, is a key component of a broader effort by Connecticut Democrats to enact commonsense gun safety laws to keep our communities safe. Due to these efforts, the state has seen a dramatic decrease in gun-related crimes in the past decade, making Connecticut one of the safest states in the country.

This is just one example of Ryan’s total alignment with the extreme agenda of anti-gun safety groups:

• Just recently, the NRA announced Ryan Fazio earned an A- rating.
  

• In 2023, Fazio voted against HB 6667 – which banned the open carry of firearms, untraceable “ghost guns”, and strengthened requirements for reporting stolen firearms.
  

• In 2025, Fazio voted against HB 7042 – legislation that made it easier to sue the firearm industry and required the gun manufacturers to take steps to reduce the illegal sale of firearms.
  

• In March, Ryan went on an extreme pro-gun podcast to brag about his anti-gun safety voting record and call Connecticut’s gun safety regulations “beyond the pale.”
  

• Fazio even defended the NRA from critics less than a week after Sandy Hook. 
  

Now his allies are trying to get a Republican SCOTUS to overturn the will of the voters and rip up Connecticut’s assault weapons ban.
