As Gas Hits Record High, Ryan Fazio Bows to Trump on Unaffordable Iran War
For over six months, Ryan Fazio has dodged questions on Donald Trump’s reckless and illegal war with Iran – saying nothing as Trump threatened war crimes, got U.S. service members killed, and stuck Connecticut families with ever-growing bills.
Yesterday, with gas prices at record highs, he refused to answer the question about his support for Trump’s war with Iran
“People who know me know that I come from the more — the wing of the Republican Party as a voter who’s probably more skeptical of foreign intervention than inclined towards foreign intervention,” Fazio said. “And I’ll leave it at that.”
This is politically convenient for Ryan, who has proven he will stop at nothing to stay on Trump’s good side. But Connecticut families cannot “leave it at that.”
Ryan also used his go-to dodge – claiming he is too “focused on state issues” to comment on national policy. But, oddly enough, Ryan was very opinionated about federal policy as a state senator when Joe Biden was in the White House.
Recent reports indicate that Trump’s war has added $115 billion in energy costs through higher gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel prices, or about $860 for the typical American household. CT Insider estimated that Connecticut drivers have paid $22 million more for gas to commute in the last two months alone.
Statement from CT Dems Spokesperson Ian Clarke:
“Ryan Fazio spent months pretending Donald Trump’s disastrous war didn’t exist, and when he’s finally forced to answer, he told people to guess what he thinks and said he’ll ‘leave it at that.’
“But Connecticut families paying more for gas, groceries, travel, and energy bills don’t get to leave it at that. Connecticut doesn’t need a governor whose approach to problem-solving is to shrug and hope nobody notices.”
