Statement from CT Dems spokesperson Ian Clarke after the first debate between Governor Ned Lamont and State Sen. Ryan Fazio:
“Ryan Fazio voted for Donald Trump three times, praised his performance as president, and openly courted his endorsement. He remained silent on Trump’s war in Iran for seven months, praised ICE as they scaled up operations, and he thinks Trump’s healthcare cuts didn’t go far enough. His attempt to recast himself as a common sense moderate in the eleventh hour isn’t fooling anyone.
Tonight on the debate stage, Governor Lamont exposed Fazio’s record and his lack of preparation for the job of leading this state. From the beginning of this campaign, there has been one candidate with the principles and the history of delivering results for working families to lead this state for the next four years, and that is Governor Ned Lamont.”
