Early Voting

Connecticut instituted in-person Early Voting in 2024. We became the 47th state to have Early Voting after voters approved an amendment to the State Constitution allowing the necessary changes to CT election law.

Early Voting does not take place at Election Day poll locations. Each town has one or two locations set up for Early Voting.

Early Voting is held from 10 am to 6 pm each day.

What to Bring: You may be asked to provide identification. In Connecticut, you can show a photo ID or a Social Security card, a preprinted piece of mail (like a utility bill or bank statement), or a paycheck that shows your name and address. See the full list of acceptable ID.

Why: You can be certain that you make it to the polls by voting early. You never know what might interrupt your Election Day voting plans. With Early Voting, you know your vote is in, and your voice will be heard. You have several days, including weekends, to cast your ballot early, in-person.
