McMahon and Shays: Who’ll Make the Faster Run to the Right?
Come Wednesday of next week, it’ll be official: Connecticut will have two Republican candidates for US Senate fighting it out to see who can run to the right faster. Will it be the former CEO who made millions selling sex and violence to children while laying off workers, or will it be the former congressman who was one of President George W. Bush’s closest allies?
“Connecticut voters have said no to Linda McMahon, and they’ve said no to Chris Shays,” said Connecticut Democratic Party Chair Nancy DiNardo. “Next week, when Chris Shays makes his candidacy official, he’ll also be sparking a race to the far right between two failed candidates as they both see who can better pander to their party’s fringe. The fact remains that the Connecticut Republican Party is completely out of touch with Connecticut voters and this primary will do nothing but highlight that point to voters across the state.”
