The Ella Grasso Women’s Leadership Awards Breakfast has quickly gained recognition as the venue to honor amazing women.

What a Night

Thanks to everyone who helped make Election Day an overwhelming success for Democrats. The thousands of volunteers across the state who knocked on doors called Democrats to remind them to vote really made the difference in a lot of races. We can’t thank you enough.

What Happened In Vegas? Right-Wing Extremism!

On Monday night, the Republican field of Presidential candidates held a debate in Las Vegas. Yet again, it was chock-full of pandering to the Tea Party instead of offering real solutions the problems our country faces. Check out a few of the worst moments.

The Republican Enthusiasm Problem in the 4th District

Since winning the 4th District seat in 2008, Congressman Himes has built a strong record of constituent service in his district and has brought federal investment back to Fairfield County. He’s also become a leader in Washington when it comes to balancing financial matters with the good of the American people.

It’s getting awfully late for a serious challenger to mount a credible campaign, but you never know who might try to buy a seat in Congress

Santorum to CT GOP: Fighting Abortion, Preventing Gay Rights More Important than Economy

Is that what Connecticut residents – even conservative Connecticut residents – really think: That ending gay marriage is more important than creating jobs?  That taking away a woman’s right and returning to the days of back-alley coat-hanger abortions should take priority over improving the economic situation of middle-class working American families?

GOP’s Best and Brightest Offer No New Ideas at California Debate

During last night’s debate in California, the Republican Party’s presidential candidates showed yet again that they want President Obama to fail more than they want regular Americans to succeed.

They also showed just how out-of touch they are with regular Americans.

The House that Romney Built

At a campaign stop in Florida in July, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney joked with a group of unemployed workers as they discussed the challenges they face in finding work.

“I am also unemployed,” Romney said, sparking a backlash for the former Massachusetts governor, who is reportedly worth as much as $250 million. Now, the “unemployed” candidate has filed for a permit to demolish his $12 million, 3,009 square-foot, ocean-front California home to build an 11,062 square-foot mansion in its place.

When Will the Right-wing Write Huntsman a “Dear Jon”?

Someone forgot to tell Jon Huntsman: Sounding like a somewhat reasonable person and taking swipes at your Tea Party-pandering Republican opponents won’t get you the GOP nomination.

Pastry Can’t Protect Perry from his Record

While “fiscal responsibility” is likely to be a continuing theme in his campaign, Perry has a Texas-sized problem: He didn’t balance his budget through conservative principles alone.

Never Mind What I Said: Bachmann Dodges Tough Questions on Her Record

This past weekend, Minnesota Congresswoman and Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann took the coveted top spot in Iowa’s Ames Straw Poll. While the poll is nonbinding and essentially meaningless—and only two of the last five straw poll winners have gone on to receive the GOP nomination— it’s considered a test of a candidate’s staying power and organization.

Following her win in Iowa, Bachmann went on a Sunday morning talk show blitz in a victory lap that put her on the major networks and showed her impressive skill at dodging tough questions.
